Evo ACM: Understanding vehicle and pedestrian signal designations
Summary
Every signal controller must have an identity that matches the phase configured on the master. Incorrect or duplicate designations can create an unsafe configuration.
Vehicle designations
|
Display format |
Meaning |
|
P 1S to P 9S |
Single head for a phase, or the primary head in a dual-head arrangement. |
|
P 1D to P 9D |
Secondary head in a dual-head arrangement. |
P 1S normally identifies the vehicle head connected directly to the master. Each remote head must match the phase it is intended to display.
Pedestrian designations
|
Display format |
Meaning |
|
X 1A to X 8A |
Primary pedestrian head in a crossing pair. |
|
X 1B to X 8B |
Secondary pedestrian head in the same crossing pair. |
Each pedestrian crossing must have a matched A and B pair. X 1A is reserved for the pedestrian head connected to a pedestrian master.
Group IDs
A Group ID identifies the collection of controllers belonging to one installation. All controllers in the installation must use the same Group ID. IDs run from 1-64; the manual recommends unique IDs per setup and avoiding Group ID 1.
