How long does an Endurance battery charger take to charge?
Compatible Endurance AGM traffic signal batteries can typically be fully charged in approximately 16 hours.
As a practical guide:
- After approximately eight hours: around 80% of signal run-time may be available, and the battery may be returned to service if necessary.
- After a minimum of approximately 14 hours: the battery should have completed a substantial charge. Where possible, continue until the Float LED is illuminated.
- After approximately 16 hours: the battery should be fully charged under normal conditions.
How do I know that charging is complete?
Use the charger LEDs rather than time alone:
- Abs illuminated: the battery is approximately 80% charged.
- Float illuminated: the battery is fully charged and ready for use.
- Storage illuminated: the battery is fully charged and is being maintained for storage.
What can affect charging time?
- Ambient and battery temperature
- Battery capacity
- The battery's starting level of charge
- Battery age and condition
- Battery damage or sulphation
- Loads left connected to the battery
An old or damaged battery may take longer to charge or may not progress to the Float stage.
All times are approximate and are subject to environmental conditions and the condition and age of the battery.
