Planning an Endurance Charger Panel installation
The Endurance Charger Panel must be installed by a licensed or certified electrician. Use this article to help plan the installation before work begins.
Choose a suitable location
The charger must be installed:
- indoors;
- in a sheltered, well-ventilated area;
- away from sparks, flames and other ignition sources;
- where it will not be exposed to extreme temperatures; and
- where the charging area can be kept clear.
The wall or mounting surface must be in sound condition and capable of supporting the panel, which can weigh up to 20 kg.
Traffic Group Signals recommends mounting the panel on solid masonry using the drilling template and supplied fixings. If you use alternative fixings, make sure they are appropriate for both the wall construction and the panel weight, and follow the fixing manufacturer's instructions.
Allow sufficient clearance
Before mounting the panel, allow enough space for:
- the trunk line or cable containment;
- isolation switches;
- power inlet cables;
- charging leads;
- batteries; and
- safe working access.
The top of the charger panel should be no higher than 1.8 m from the floor.
Handling the panel
The panel can weigh up to 20 kg. Two-person handling is recommended when moving, lifting or installing it.
