What is the Evo1 Battery Management System?
This article provides an overview of the Evo1 Battery Management System (BMS) and what it is for.

Introduction
The Evo1 portable traffic signal features our advanced Battery Management System, also known as the BMS.
The BMS is designed to help traffic management operatives better understand what is going on with their Evo1 batteries.
The BMS displays:
- Battery status
- Battery capacity
- Battery health
Together, this information can help operatives decide when a battery needs to be swapped, when it needs to be taken out of service and when there is an issue with charging.
Benefits of the BMS
The Battery Management System benefits users in the following ways:
- Ability to see battery levels, health and status of each individual battery
- Helps identify faulty batteries so they can be removed from service, preventing on-site failures
- Clearly displays information, making it easier to diagnose and assess batteries when on site.
- Helps charge within the unit safely, increasing battery longetivity
The purpose of the BMS is to help our customers save money, improve the safety of battery charging and enhance operational efficiency.
Battery Status
| Status | Meaning |
| Charge Fault |
There is an issue with charging the affected battery. |
| Charging | When this lamp is illuminated it means that the battery is charging. |
| Low Battery | The battery is low and should be swapped |
| Full Battery | The battery is fully charged |
| Battery Fault | There is an issue with the affected battery |
Troubleshooting
Charge Fault
- Check the condition of the cables running between the charging port and the battery for damage.
- Check the charging port for damage or corrosion.
- Check that the power source is connected securely to the charging input on the side of the unit.
- Try connecting the affected battery to a different charger
Battery Fault
- Disconnect and reconnect the charger to see if the issue reappears
- Place the battery directly on charge on the Endurance Charging System - this will test and attempt to repair the battery
- Remove the battery from the unit and replace with a new battery
- If the battery is overheating, return the battery to a safe temperature and re-test
